Hellan Strainer Acquires Federal Bronze

The Hellan Strainer Co. (“Hellan”), a Cleveland, OH-based manufacturing company, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Federal Bronze Castings, Inc. along with Machine Parts, Inc.  Federal Bronze is a specialty bronze large-component casting facility located in Newark, NJ.  Machine Parts is an associated large-component machining company located adjacent to Federal Bronze.  The new entity will be known as Ironbound Castings, LLC; the transaction vision is to create a best-in-class enterprise primarily serving the interests of the US Navy and related industries.

Philip H. Haynes, Group President of Hellan, said, “The Hellan team has no higher priority to our nation, the Navy and to our customers than to secure continuous supply of our bronze and other specialty castings.  This acquisition is highly strategic and demonstrates our commitment and focus to the Navy’s future construction programs.  With this acquisition, the Hellan Group is now literally a one-stop shop for critical cast components.  We remain unwavering in our dedication to service, quality and delivery.  Our Group will grow, improve and become one of the top program suppliers to DOW.”

Consistent with other acquisitions made by the Hellan Group, Ironbound Castings will continue to operate in its existing location with existing staff and management team.

Earlier this week, the Hellan Group also completed its acquisition of American Design & Manufacturing, Inc. in South Windsor, CT.  This business is now known as American Denco Manufacturing USA, LLC (ADM) and is a key systems manufacturer for land-based power, piping trains and ground support equipment.

Federal Bronze’s former president, Doug Reichard, who will remain onboard with the new entity, commented, “This acquisition by Hellan will provide a much-needed backstop to our workforce, processes, quality systems and be instrumental in growing the business over the coming decade.  I feel a sense of reassurance and calm passing the business off to the next generation.  Federal Bronze has played a pivotal roll in our national defense for over 30 years and, now, Ironbound Castings is set to carry on this legacy.”
